Shenyang Institute of Engineering (SIE) was founded in April 2003 with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It is a provincial-level institution of higher education formed by the merger of Shenyang Energy College (founded in 1952) and Liaoning Vocational Business College (founded in 1947), specializing in energy-related disciplines. The institute specializes in engineering while developing various other disciplines such as management, economics and law. It is established by the Liaoning Provincial Government in conjunction with the State Power Investment Corporation.
Shenyang Institute of Engineering is located in Shenbei New Area, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. It currently consists of three campuses: main campus, science park and industrial park. It has a total area of 820,000 m2 and a total building area of 450,000 m2. The institute teaches professional master’s degrees in electrical engineering and power engineering and 33 undergraduate majors. The institute has 724 full-time faculty members, including 125 of them with honors at national, provincial and municipal levels.
Shenyang Institute of Engineering has established cooperation with universities in countries and regions such as Canada, the United States, Australia and Russia.
